Mikey Georgeson – Tragicosmic

Mikey Georgeson, painter, performer and all round good egg, has an exhibition opening at Sartorial Contemporary Art in London and has asked me to write a short piece about the show. Given that Mikey’s paintings are quite slippery customers, created ‘up to but not beyond the point of understanding’, the task was an interesting one. Rather than have a stab at rationalising the work and wading through the usual dodgy territory (for me) of pseudo art speak, I tried to work with my own subjective response, which resulted a bizarre second hand reminiscence of All Star Wrestling in Birkenhead. 500 words isn’t going to do justice to the cosmic abundance that is Mikey’s creative output, but I was glad to help in a small way.
